Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for information.

An important representative said the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
